problems + goals

The AWAKO team needed to turn early research from in-field interviews into functional product directions. Their goal was to align marketing, product design, and team structure within a tight discovery sprint—while building early UI foundations that would support scalability.

process
  • Participated in product design sprints with cross-functional teams.

  • Helped analyze user research to derive key MVP features.

  • Worked on aligning brand tone across marketing and product.

  • Spearheaded the first iteration of AWAKO’s component library in Figma.

  • Collaborated closely with the product lead during discovery and definition phases.

  • Identified gaps in design documentation and explored better handoff practices.

outcome
  • Delivered foundational UI components for future teams.

  • Clarified sprint structure and goals across product and marketing.

  • Improved communication between sprint participants through better documentation.

  • While my engagement was short, the groundwork laid helped shape AWAKO’s early product direction.

key takeaways
  • Learned to prioritize cross-team clarity in fast-paced sprint environments.

  • Developed a deeper appreciation for the role of documentation in async product work.

  • Gained insight into structuring sprints for early-stage startups navigating research-heavy pivots.
