Overview
INCYT is a platform that enables real-time monitoring of assets, energy, and environments through mobile and web-based IoT tools. I was brought in to clean up UI inconsistencies, reduce front-end inefficiencies, and architect a scalable design system that could support faster dev cycles and long-term growth.
problems + goals
The UI across INCYT’s platforms had grown fragmented—multiple teams designed in isolation, resulting in duplicated patterns, hard-coded UI quirks, and inefficient handoffs.
Goals
Unify the product experience under a single design language.
Create a modular, documented system.
Improve team collaboration and reduce QA bottlenecks.
process
Conducted a full audit of UI components across 3 platforms.
Mapped redundant patterns and deprecated inconsistencies.
Built a modular design system in Figma with tokens, variants, and documentation.
Collaborated with developers to create a shared implementation model.
Ran heuristic evaluations and internal user testing on new UI flows.
Mentored junior designers and aligned the team under scalable processes.
outcome
Reduced redundant design/dev effort by 50%.
Cut implementation time on new features by ~30%.
Rolled out a unified design language across all three platforms.
Improved QA velocity and product team confidence.
key takeaways
Systems work best when they’re built with people in mind—developers, QA, designers, and even PMs.
Creating clarity in design led to momentum in execution.
Structure and documentation turned a scattered UI into a design ops win.
